“WHENEVER GOD ARISES”
(ISAIAH 60:1, LUKE 15:17-18)
At the intervention of God, His enemies are scattered, and other deliverances take place. In Acts 16:25-26, when Paul and Silas were wrongfully imprisoned, the Bible tells us that, suddenly, there was a great earthquake, the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately, all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed! For you and I to be able to shine, we need to arise. It means that God has a part to play in your destiny, and you too must act well your part. I always tell people whenever I minister, that God will do what He would do, you cannot play God’s part, neither will God play yours. So, after God had cleared the way, you’ve got to arise, so that you can shine.
The desire is that God would come in His marvellous providence, manifesting Himself, both to, and for His people. Our desire is to see God come down to His Church, and for His Church, so that she (the Church) might be recovered from the desolate place she has been in. ‘Mountains’ represent what is solid and strong on the face of the earth, which seems unflinching, and so imposing. It appears nothing can change the situation. I must admit that I have wept and wondered if there was a way back for the Church. A Church that seems to have gone astray from the “old paths” (Jeremiah 6:16); this Scripture encourages us to believe; for such a ‘mountain’ to flow down at His Presence. “I Will Arise” is a personal decision. When the Prodigal Son made that decision, he took a step into success. There’s power in decision. In making this, there’s no dilly-dallying. The man decided to arise, and he did. He made up his mind. Be a person of action. Be hardworking and diligent. If you decide to do the will of God, go ahead. Whenever God ministers to you to pay your tithe, do not hesitate.
For you to shine, you need to do the following:
1. Arise to Take Your Place (Acts 26:16):- Everyone is born with a purpose to achieve in life. Make sure you make a difference in your generation. Our ability to grow and develop is in our hands. Our Heavenly Father won’t make us do what He wants us to do—that’s the fact. But He can give us the help we need to succeed. So, know your purpose, and run with it. “When the purpose of a thing is unknown, abuse becomes inevitable”. Abuse means, “Abnormal use”.
2. Arise to Receive Your Healing (Mark 2:9):- if you are sick or afflicted, lying on your bed, and drawing sympathiser to yourself, will not do the magic. It is good to pray, but what matters is for you to attempt to rise from the sick bed, so that you can manifest your healing. As you arise, it will stir up the faith in you, and you’ll be healed.
3. Arise to Build (Nehemiah 2:20):- Is there a work in your life or in God’s Vineyard that you are expected to partake in, but you are discouraged? I sense God saying: “arise, and attempt it again”. Be strong, and courageous; do not allow the enemies or adversaries to weaken your destiny.
4. Arise to Enter into a New Era (Isaiah 16:12):- There is a new thing God wants to do in your life, and for Him to do it, He says: you need to let go of the past, and arise, in order to enter into your new dispensation (Isaiah 43:18-19).
5. Arise to Possess Your Possessions (Genesis 13:17):- I want to remind you again that whatever vision God has given you and I, it is time to back up the vision with action. It’s time to walk into your dreamland, and make it reality. The passage tells us that Abraham was instructed by God to leave his father’s house, to a land, which He (God), will show him. Abraham obeyed. As a result of his obedience, God promised to give him all the land, as far as he could see, and Abraham caught the vision. And because Abraham was able to rise, the vision became a reality as he possessed the land.
When God steps in, His name becomes known (Exd. 14:13-16). A shaking takes place within the nation (Ps 48:1-9), awesome things occur (Ps 126:1-5): ‘He (God) defeats and destroys the enemy: ‘He silences the enemy forever’. ‘He gives His people Peace and Rest: ‘He delivers His people’. ‘His enemies are scattered’. ‘Jordan driven back’. ‘The Sun and Moon stand still in their habitations’. ‘The nations and kingdoms tremble and bow before Him’. ‘The horses and the riders are thrown into the Red Sea’. ‘The heavens drop down plentiful rain and dew’. ‘Confusion and commotion send the enemy into disarray’. ‘Beauty is given for ashes’. ‘The prison doors open’. ‘Death is swallowed up in victory’. ‘The irreversible is reversed’. ‘The Pursuer becomes the Prey’. ‘The Conquered becomes the Conqueror’. ‘Miracle water gushes out of solid rock’. ‘All creation sings His praises’. Halleluiah!!
“Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies’ sake”, Psalm 44:26.
In the Bible, we have about 23 Bible verses talking about God Arising. To arise means “to be stirred up, to be awake and to prepare for action”. It is against this backdrop that, when the Psalmist found himself in a critical situation, he had no option, but to say to God to ‘arise’ for him and His people, based on His eternal love. Yes, he was confident that nothing can separate God’s help and love from them because, God cares for the oppressed and the troubled. Therefore, it is important to re-emphasize here, that God’s people should not be ashamed to cry to Him when things are against them, or their nation, and seek His intervention.
If Apostle Peter had kept quiet, he would have been drowned. The Bible noted thus: “And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus”.
Matthew 14:26-31: “But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me! And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”, This implies that, no matter how challenging or troublesome a situation may be, a child of God should go ahead and cry unto God to arise on his behalf. Sometimes, we find ourselves being tossed about, either by financial, marital, spiritual, mental or academic storms. In such situations, a child of God should not allow the devil to have the last laugh over him. What he needs to do in practical terms, is to cry to God to arise on his/her behalf, and rescue him/her. One thing is certain: when God Arises, there is always a great impact. We read of different stories in the Bible, particularly of these three: the Healing of Naaman, the Woman with Issue of Blood and the Man at the Pool for 38 years. It was their contact and cry unto God that gave them succour. God is waiting to arise for somebody today, Alleluia!
However, let every child of God know that it is his/her duty to cry unto God, and the duty of God to intervene accordingly, by His love. In Psalm 3, David was troubled because of his enemies, and they felt they had defeated him. But when he cried unto God, he immediately received supernatural help.
Due to the seriousness that God requires of His people, the psalmist’s appeal to God was turned into a song, so that those who work against the children of God, would be scattered. And when such happens, the believers will only, but rejoice in the presence of the Lord: “Let God arise, Let His enemies be scattered; Let those also who hate Him flee before Him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. But let the righteous be glad; Let them rejoice before God; Yes, let them rejoice exceedingly”, (Psalm 68:1-3).
Therefore, people of God, no matter how critical the situation may be in our nation, God can still arise for us. Yes, it is never too late for Him to intervene on our behalf. Remember, for God to arise on your behalf, you need to lead an upright and righteous life. Also, allow Jesus to be the Lord of your life.
Only then, will we be confident, and qualified to claim this saying: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, and I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” “Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed, and disgraced…” (Isaiah 41:10-13).
